power scaling issues is such a big problem in shounen it's like, the standard.

most shounen introduce some kind of god like world rending super killer bad guy that the "hero" has to train to defeat. then next season there's another god like bad guy that makes the last one look like a bitch. repeat for 3-5 seasons & it becomes silly. part of the problem is having an open ended show that doesn't have a definitive ending because the writer has to keep upping the stakes to keep tension & interest.


there's been experimentation in anime to try and work around this problem to varying degrees of success

had a season 3 in which villains that weren't supremely powerful, but instead had special "rules" that one had to circumvent in order to defeat them

started out with the standard shounen problem but circumvented this by speed running the ending & faceplanting the pay off of the protag training to beat the big bad.

stretched out the protag's training arc over the entire series

as far as I can tell the best solution to power creep is to just end the series within a few seasons
