You can do any of them. Just make sure you're doing it with someone who can walk you through them so they can tell you whether you're doing them right or should move on from the exercise. Right side of the brain has useful exercises to get you primed for the other books. Just don't bother with the jargon and go into the exercises.

Also a good exercise. This is all there is to observation, you are checking the relation between 2 points on a subject and comparing them.
