A devout Christian, Derek has said that his faith is the most important thing in his life. The tattoo on his wrist is known as the "Chi-Rio"; a combination of Greek symbols creating a Christogram (basically an abbreviation for "Jesus Christ").
This, plus the fact that he once refused to kneel during the National Anthem, has led many to assume that Carr is pretty based, which is in fact true. And for giving it his all despite less than ideal circumstances oftentimes during his career, we say, "Thank you Based Carr."
