The sudden switch in 1.5 from comfy chinese isekai to cosmic doomerism was not well received, and it was made worse by the patch also being extremely rushed and broken. I'm not happy to see the retconned lore being the basis for this patch either. On its own it was just a stoner explanation for multiplayer and the sea of stars that could be eventually unretconned, but if it's embedded into another story it's harder to revert it.
