>speed
your speed, definitely the most straightforward, technically a sort of "soft cap" on velocity that can be augmented by skills
>stamina
health, essentially, it drains over the duration of a race and different running positions consume different amounts, the general rule of thumb is that further back positions consume less, with end runners consuming very slightly more than late surgers; stamina recovery skills can "overheal" so ones that activate early are still good. Longer races require more stamina, of course
>power
a few things at once; first and foremost it's acceleration, mostly at the beginning and end of the race, more power means getting up to speed faster, but a low speed stat will limit your final velocity rather than letting you accelerate forever
>guts
guts is weird, it decreases stamina consumption late into the race and makes you decelerate upon running out slower; it's kind of useless since you can just build enough stamina to not run out, when tazuna says you need more guts you really need more stamina
>wit
more wit = more skill procs, also slightly lowers stamina consumption and improves positioning to keep you from getting boxxed and the like
