>Also if the structure always follow a "for human" design are there ever dead ends or places that are closed off?
There is. Lot of stairs, rooms and ledges that lead nowhere. Also things like round stairs that go 3000 kilometer upwards. So its going to take a while to get to the top if you decide to walk. Builders building at random is the main reason why the world of BLAME! is in such chaos to begin with and the operating system Authority wants to stop the growth before the mass of the entire space structure reaches critical mass and collapses on itself.
The distances in BLAME! are ridiculously long, the entire world is a string of structures combined together in a radius of solar systems. And theres giant empty rooms that used to envelop entire planets, before the structure disassembled the planet for resources. A walking distance from Earth to the Sun is extremely long already, now add in to that that you're traversing an environment of stairs, corridors and rooms that are chaotic. No wonder humanity lost control despite their sci-fi tech having godlike powers like creating matter and energy out of gravity infinitely.
