The only way you can attempt to strangle your headcannon out of that is if you are an autist. Which, you know, I'm sympathetic of your mental impairment. Real human beings can accept 40k for the cool 80s pop culture bombastic setting it is. Autistic people make it their personality and have to water everything down to a bunch of reasonable, intelligent people to fit into their orderly black and white thinking worlds. And as an autistic person, you are unable to change your views or incorporate new information that disturbs the order you've created in your mind.

So I accept, that in your inferior brains mind, the admech are great scientists doing great things and inventing new technologies that drive the imperium forward and hope is on the horizon and the good guys will win one day. I accept that in your mind, which is unable to understand context or themes, 40k is a universe filled with good guys and bad guys.
