Deux is Rei, Asuka, and Mari combined into one character. I think the Annofags would be the biggest fans of her.

That makes a lot of sense. Deux's design, personality, and backstory, what little we glimpse of it, seemed designed to hook in otakus. Her design, the way she dehumanizes herself, her voice acting, and association with Four and Rosamia, everything about her screams pity bait. She's the most "major character" coded disposable villain I can think of, yet she never interacts with the main cast outside of coping to Chalia about how she deserves to be a newtype because she suffered for it.

I think they're shitting on newtype "love at first sight" relationships as well, showing it as a toxic and vacuous obsession.
