I think it's an ego issue, maybe they take it personally if someone thinks differently.

Maybe that's why they make it into a personal battle and not about the matter at hands.
I've seen people try to lay down the facts but it always diverts to attacking the credibility and not the point.
You could say the most prodound and just statement in the history of man and they'd still reply that you haven't posted your models, which equates to not having models.

That itself might be a hint to the deeper logic, because they seem to want to "dictate the rules": you have to engage them on their front, and their front isn't factual.
