You can see there the old guard like Stan Lee tried to move things forward by having Peter marry MJ, but new blood writers didn't like it because they like Peter being a down on his luck everyman. So Peter can't be married, Aunt May isn't allowed to die while Peter deals with that, Peter can't have a stable income, and so on. Essentially Peter B. Parker represents everything they don't want Peter to do.
