It is kind of like Chad and Brad talking about a football game I guess.

>Also where do you get all of this knowledge from?
not going to lie, video games are usually the starting point and wikipedia is usually where I get a quick rundown, though I have read a few books they usually focus on this or that period or event, so if I want to learn about an italian anti-aircraft gun used to destroy russian tanks during the spanish civil war, yeah, I'm going to wikipedia, also >>>/his/ is sometimes a starting point for some novel event in history I soon want to learn about, also documentaries sometimes on TV and YT, but most are awful nowadays

>Do you just watch a shitton of youtube videos?
most are awful, as I said, they never get to the point and have tons of cringe ads in the middle which for some reason ublock can't block or because they are part of the video, a few YTers are ok like lindybeige

>And is there a "point" to this knowledge, like you believe you can predict future events with it?
most of us are smartasses and think we are well learned, but after a while you go full socrates and realize how little you know, then gradually you start to realize a few things about how the world works

an example would be a reddit meme like "the romans didn't have an industrial revolution because they have slaves", it makes sense right, why use a machine when you can use a slave, but you realize how retarded it is when you learn about a machine that is like 400 times faster than a human, even if you have slaves it is still more profitable to use the machine, the romans just didn't have the technology, they didn't even have windmills

>Or is it just for fun?
yeah, I guess like most autistic hobbies it takes a lot to get into, you have to start somewhere, like some video game then getting curious about how it went down in real life, then you connect with the historical figure and the people and the cool shit they did, idk
