I would say no. The main draw of Bannerlord is that its a battle simulator. Its capable of having 1k+ troops on screen at once and it looks fairly decent with its weather system. It also has better sieges than Warband vanilla. It stripped pretty much everything else out that wasn't fighting and made it worse and then forgot to add systems from previous entries like the ability to upgrade arms/armor.
I would personally argue that the combat isn't as good either in BL due to the poor AI, bad individual/group AI choices (like not automatically raising their shields), siege defense being a detriment (attacking is easier than defending due to poor AI), armor being completely worthless and the fact cavalry can't hit anything with their lances or spears.
You are much better off playing a modded version of Warband that focuses on the vanilla world like Litdum as compared to Bannerlord.
