I've watched as Square has been milking the FF7 name since its release. You had Cloud, Aerith, Yuffie and Cid show up in Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2. There was the whole Compilation in the mid 2000's and now we got a full fledged, 3-part, full scale remake and sister projects to boot.
The creative teams have changed, the original creators are older, the technology and trends are different. There is much about the Remake that just doesnt work as well as it ought to. Yes, the whole multi-verse angle is garbage, I refuse to believe anyone actually prefers that to just a competent retelling. However, there is some actual passion put into the project and it shows. The characterization is nailed, the voice acting is stellar, the whole finely crafted world is spectacular and the new ARPG combat is some of the best I've ever played. So i take the good with the bad, Ill always have the original, and while some scenes shouldve been done better, I think the Remake project is bring a ton of great things to the table than its bringing bad. I could just use a lot less Zack. I dont give a rat's shit about Zack.
