I know people talk about the "Marvelization" of writing, but to me it just comes off like a child's movie where Gru can't talk about blowing up the moon without a minion farting and distravting everyone.
Don't get me wrong, dissonence or massive tonal shifting for something lighthearted can be done effectively, I fucking love the Mother series and it does that all the time.
