Not sure. I have been working for most of my life. Just got into gamedev once I got unemployed. Started working a little again, gamedev went fine, this year so far I have worked a lot and gamedev suffers. If you have a game that you are confident in, I would say work part-time. Try to reach your goals, if you have them, but hedge your bets.
