Whenever some midwit asks "how did Padme fall for Anakin", the answer is that she like him, suffered deeply traumatic experiences that left her severely emotionally stunted before entering her teen years. The end result was both of them bein impulsive, immature, and suffering absolutely horrible lapses in judgement.

One of the major reasons why Luke and Leia turn out so much better than either of their parents is that they both had a far more stable upbringing and were only introduced to potentially traumatizing events at a much older age when they could better handle it.
