chainsaw and matter eater
chainsaw is good for obvious reasons to knowers (it SETS the cast delay to 0 in any cast frame that it appears in, so if its in the top level cast frame it nullifies all cast delay no matter how much there is)
and matter eater is crazy for a lot of the same reasons that black hole is, with the upside that if you manage to find a long distance cast you can cast the long distance cast and put the matter eater inside the long distance cast and it wont use any charges of the matter eater but still gain the property of the matter eater (eating through the wall with LDR's invisible particle) see webm: this is not using any charges on matter eater yet it is destroying brickwork

if you mean thats all the game boils down to, no, there's a lot of learning that goes into even being able to explore the dungeon effectively. but as far as building beginning damage wands, that is by far the most effective way that i know of to build strong wands without relying on combos that will not be available to you every run. pretty much in a nutshell:
find a trigger spell (actually doesnt even matter in most cases which one you use, shit ive used egg trigger to win before, but spark bolt trigger is generally considered the best for its properties)
find multicasts
find payload spells
stack as many spells as you can inside the payload
find payload modifiers to make them do more damage, like all the ones that give you +damage for 0 mana cost (linear arc is +5 damage for 0 mana and applies to all projectiles inside the payload)
but there are COUNTLESS other insane spell combos that you could happen to stumble upon but its a matter of 1.knowing them 2.actually finding them
and countless other ways of building actual damage too. this is just one method but its the one method i find most consistent
