This will be a long rambling, but I do have my whole can of worms with animation as a medium.
It's hard, yes. But as a medium for narrative is not appropriate because you are limited by multiple factors. Which is

>pacing
>art
>background
>script
The real limit is how much are you willing to cram your story in a 22-min format, there are details that will be lost by the spectator or the message straight up does not exist

With comics, there isn't really that issue, personally. The issues of pacing can still exist, but the advantage is that you are not limited by time, but on the number of pages and panels.

But eh, I prefer reading comics because I like looking at inking techniques, B/W comics are the best. (One of my favorite comic artists is Trino)

But really it all comes down to how good can you write and manage scripts.
