I finally replaced my old laptop with a modern desktop, and now I can play GTA Enhanced on normal settings rather than Legacy version on gimped settings. My game no longer stutters and slows down in the middle of missions.
I didn't realize the extent to which having a slower computer made my character slower in the game. I always struggled badly with time trials; I had to make a near-perfect run on the Freakshop bike with the front wheel up most of the way to have any chance of finishing. Simply by getting a better computer, my times are around 20% faster.
The same with Duggan shipments for Casino heists. Previously, I had to get somewhat lucky with the shipments spawns so that I could hit them all with the Sparrow with a few seconds to spare. My pass/fail rate was around 40% pass, which meant lots of retries. The first time I tried on the new machine, I finished with 1:44 left to spare, using a sub-optimal route that took me over Chiliad a couple of times.
My Cayo times using the standard Longfin/airstrip/grate approach were around 13 minutes It looks like they'll be around 10 from now on.
And I could finally beat the bunker shooting range. Because of screen stuttering issues, I only ever picked up a handful of single stars? Now, I'm cruising to golds on every weapon. I'll try the flight school next.
