>use duolingo to learn japanese (spanish got boring), since everything better costs money and i'm fucking 16 and broke during covid
>turns out they give everyone the same course regardless whether u had chinese parents who forced u to learn chinese, or not
>have to handwrite the same fucking characters i learned in elementary over and over AGAIN

Rn, what I often do is go into online dictionaries, paste in (the shijintai forms of) compounds my mom forced me to learn, and just see what they're pronounced in Japanese on'yomi.
