it's more this than being outgunned. americans are incapable of grassroots orgnanization because of the "fuck you got mine" attitude. the second any of them make even a slight profit off of anything they drop all their ideals and become staunch conservatives (because obviously the best way for things to be is exactly how it was when they made their first dollar)
this also extends to any sort of planning or forward thinking. i.e. there is none, there is only MONEY NAO NAO NAO no matter how much they fuck up the system that got them their first few bucks. they don't care as long as they can cash out before it collapses.
why do you think every techbro paradise is a thinly veiled doomsday bunker, and every service is automated slop? it's so they never have to have contact with another human (other than a concubine or two) because they know that in their technocrat cyberfuture "utopia" they would be fucking robbed at lasergunpoint on the daily (same reason the #1 current american fear is "riots". it's not the political action, they fear looters more than death because it means getting stolen from and insurance usually doesn't cover that)
