I do a lot of slightly admin (configuration of network rules and stuff and also Google admin) plus help desk. Like I can deploy network equipment with vlans and all that(doing that right now at a new site).
I'm getting fucked pay wise being 1099 at 62k which obviously gets fucked on by taxes at a huge rate. (It's the equivalent of like 50k w2)
Should I take a w2 job that pays 70k with 3 days remote but is "support specialist 1"? They have great benefits as opposed to my zero benefits now. Career wise it's a downgrade but I'm getting no money here and there is ZERO upward mobility. Literally just the it director and me here
>>105873208 (OP)Reminder that it is entirely your fault and your fault alone that you are unemployed.
Another week of zero communication from any of the jobs I applied to
>people who can't reset passwords in AD manage to get 800k TC jobs but (You) can't
Just kill yourself now. You're not good enough.
>>105874476Yeah it's almost like the market is fucked up and hr dumb as shit
>>105874502No, you're just literally stupider than jeets.
>>105874372Wait it's still only 2:50 on the west coast I should neurotically refresh my mailbox for another two hours
>>105873236Why do the people behind these kinds of posts always reek of curry breath?
>>105874372Another week of rejections for me from all the jobs I applied to recently. It just never ends.
IT network technician here. What advice do you need for entry to mid level? What are you going for job wise?
>get a callback from a "local" company
>indian woman on the phone
>accent thicker than fucking molasses
>call quality is nonexistent
>literally cannot hear 80% of what she says
The entire fucking industry is a bubble.
If any of you unemployed anons are looking for something to do, I could use some help on my side project. I can't pay you, at least not until it starts making some money... but you'd have some shit to put on your resume
Come work for me I am making a trillion dollar industry by using audio to transmit data. Who wants to come build this with me ?
>>105873442I wonder when people are going to acknowledge the blatant nepotism from jeets. There's no subtlety at all.
>>105875737People have been openly discussing it, it's just that everyone who's in power right now (politically or otherwise) directly profits from H1B slave labor, and no one tries to appease the commoner wagies like us anymore because they know we won't do shit. Nothing will get better for America until there are literal blood in the streets rebellions going on because politicians literally don't care about anything except securing their bags, but those rebellions won't happen because Americans are just willing to have less time and time again.
Nothing happened when the housing inventory got fucked up by Chinese investors, nothing happened when inner city crime went up because of fent, and nothing will happen now with domestic white collar workers getting rekt by H1B's. Trump walked back most of the anti foreign workers stuff after he realized how much of his company's staff is illegals, and the biggest competition he has right now is an up and coming third party being ran by Elon Musk who is... very pro H1B, look at that!
Is there a difference between "In Process" and "In Progress" on workday?
>>105875883yeah its pretty much this. the discussion doiesnt have to end but nothing new will be added after this post
>>105875937No, they both mean they're not considering your application.
>only applied for 35 jobs this week and not the usual 50
it's over.
How bad is the job market?
I've been reading horror stories.
I am about to complete the CompTIA trifecta but scared shitless of the prospects.
I work a dead end job so it can't get much worse but fuck, seems grim.
I think the only thing left for me to do is to create my own startup, and if it takes off, hire only whites or east asians (for diversity points with investors)
>>105875610the 90s called and they want dial up back
>>105876788>How bad is the job market?
>>105873234What don't you understand in 'unemployable tech workers' fucking retard? Go to your own thread >>/twg/
>>105876811That's on wires though. I am transmitting the data in audio
>>105877010that one anon's original idea WAS to transmit data via audio over wires
>>105877016You need to fuck all the way off. That would never work. The data has to be audio ONLY so that the EW considerations will be protected. We can even use this technology for drones.
>>105876788>How bad is the job market?I stopped getting recruiters in my inbox on LinkedIn, which was basically my canary in the coal mine for the current job market. I'd hang on to your dead end job until at least the next president if I was you because most people getting laid off right now aren't able to get anything.
>>105876803>hire only whites or east asiansI don't know if this is still the case, but when I was doing my internship during college I remember overhearing our boss one day saying how they didn't want to hire any more people because after a certain number of employees a given company has to start complying with diversity quotas. However, this was a decade ago, so I don't know if the rules are stricter or more lenient these days.
>>105877016>>105876811>le modem may mayhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modem
over a copper cable dumbass. Not over actual audio of which like i stated you could use directional sound. You would just be applying the same concepts of modulation over the audio spectrum.
>>105876803Yep I'm on that boat too
>see Geeksquad ad (not sure if you guys have it, they're a "Call for any residential tech problems" group)
>need tons of qualifications, they won't provide any training or helpful software
>need to use your own vehicle
>need your own troubleshooting equipment
>need to be on call unironically 24/7
What do they bring to the table other than the name?
>>105877865that's unironically shocking. If it's truly GeekSquadโข then they should be owned by Best Buy, and i'm pretty sure you're only able to get GeekSquad people to your house if you get an extended warranty on something. And they have obnoxious cars with really dumb liveries
if not literal geek squad then idk what these boomers are on about but where I live every place that does that pulls the same scam. They need you to basically be a fully-equipped independent contractor yet willing to work for minimum wage and on-call
>>105877953Just double checked and that's my fault I misremembered the name, it was Geeks2U.
>>105877036>I don't know if this is still the case, but when I was doing my internship during college I remember overhearing our boss one day saying how they didn't want to hire any more people because after a certain number of employees a given company has to start complying with diversity quotas. However, this was a decade ago, so I don't know if the rules are stricter or more lenient these days.Once you hit 15 employees you can get sued for not having minorities under the CRA. Your startup can be as white-male-only as you want so long as you don't go above 14 workers including yourself.
>>105878029i wouldnt have been surprised otherwise. i've heard Red Bull will pay you to drive an obnoxiously wrapped car (possibly with a big paper mache Red Bull can on the top) and it's literally just for advertising
i learned this as a child i by asking such a person if there was an even going on (and if he had any free red bulls) and he got all pissed off and explained he was just picking up his girlfriend and he just gets 30 bucks a month to ruin his car
>>105878063>CRAthe Canadian Revenue Agency prosecutes DEI crimes?
>>105878118Possibly, but in this case it's the Civil Rights Act. It's the same legislation that started the college degree scam snowball by making it illegal for companies in America to issue general intelligence tests and hire candidates that showed an aptitude for being trained on the job, because it was deemed discriminatory that black people didn't do well on general intelligence tests. As a result, companies started just requiring a college degree as evidence of trainability instead.
>>105878246Are there even nigs in tech? I always thought DEI was mostly for white women and gays.
GuysโฆIโm considering taking a job as a tire installer at Costco. Iโm 39 and still live my parents. I did really well in school for CS, but maybe my heart wasnโt in it. The whole technical interview process freaked me out, so I never tried. I graduated in late 2022 with no internships as well, so Iโm pretty much fucked.
Please help me God. I canโt believe my life turned out like this. It makes me so sad. Is there any hope for me? I have no network. No nepotism. Nothing to get my foot in the door. Iโm freaking out.
>>105878332Why are you freaking out? You have nothing to lose.
>>105878332iktf
Just look for factory/warehouse jobs and apprenticeships (dunno about America but it's a really bad time of the year for apprenticeships right now over here, every role says they're hiring for January 2026).
>>105878246the idea that the civil rights act caused DEI falls apart when you look at the details for more than five seconds. modern wokeshit didn't start until about half a century after it passed. it had some institutional support during the biden admin but it was created by private sector golems of the WEF variety
symbolically complying with anti-discrimination law is easy. it's actually the exact opposite case a lot of the time when companies knowingly break the law with their DEI policies. discriminating against white men for being white men is extremely illegal on paper but nonetheless rampant. plus you have tech companies full of jeets and jeets are psychotically racist against anyone who isn't a jeet from their caste, infosys actually got sued for that at least once.
disparate impact is still fucking retarded though.
Fucking weebs
>>105878499Iโm freaking out because Iโm trading one shitty retail job for another with slightly better pay and benefits, and I feel like Iโm conceding to never having a tech job. Maybe thatโs what I deserve because I didnโt try hard enough. I feel like Iโm running out of time and options.
>>105878499>>105878709Also, I applied to Costco IT Support Analyst - Logistics job a while back but never got called for an interview. That job starts at $30/hr, and has multiple tiers to work towards for even better pay. And all it required was knowing Linux command line and SQL, and I STILL couldnโt get that despite completing college courses in both. I know itโs because I have no professional work experience in either.
>>105878709Shit man, you might have to move back in with your parents.
>>105875610I am the guy with the original idea but i am broke.
>>105879032Why you aren't making the money from the idea ? no one has ever transmitted audio with data before

I feel like I can now solve all easies, most mediums in 20 minutes or less. Done 133/150 of Neetcode's. It's probably time to start applying.
Reminder that you are the main character of life and you need to apply to jobs that already have thousands of applicants. If it is still up, they are still looking for the one and only, (You).
>>105880919The more I look at it the cuter it gets. Why is this allowed?
Aside from roping, what would your next career step would be if you were in helldesk, have a bachelor's compsci degree and no certs? Asking this because I'm wondering if studying for CCNA is even worth it anymore if I can just focus on making a devops portfolio instead.
>>105881402Bitch I applied to an assistant workshop position that had 20 applicants and still haven't heard back.
I'm currently studying for Network+ and Security+ certs to hopefully get an entry level job in help desk. I'm also enrolled to complete my bachelor's in CS. Should I just drop out and become an electrician or a plumber? I'm one of the few white guys in my CS program, it's almost entirely jeets. Working with spics in blue collar sounds more appealing than working with jeets in white collar.
>>105882339Always complete it, especially if you're most of the way through.
If nothing else it tells the next guys that you can complete a degree (I've seen some apprenticeships list unrelated diplomas/degrees under "nice to have").
That said, if you can get a solid apprenticeship if you're only half way through then it might be worth swapping. I can't speak for America though, spics have probably mostly ruined the viability of trades over there.
Recommend me some good keyboard and mouse that wont kill my wrist
>>105878287Most black guys who are in tech seem to stay in helldesk or go into networking
Alex, an office worker, once toiled comfortably with a simple mouse and keyboard, never minding their specs. Then, a video surfaced, "Your Mouse is Killing Your Wrist," declaring mice over 60 grams a ticking time bomb. Alex, suddenly aware, felt a seed of doubt sprout.
His digital feed exploded with ergonomic gurus: "Is Your Keyboard a Carpal Tunnel Trap?" He started obsessing over mouse grams and keyboard angles. His unexamined comfort became a source of intense anxiety. Fitness videos, "Stop Doing These Killer Exercises!" made him abandon workouts altogether, fearing injury.
Convinced his cheap gear was harming him, Alex yearned for a "perfect" setup. He sacrificed a family trip for a mechanical keyboard, only for it to give him cramps in a week. "Must be a low-profile one I need!" he rationalized, as the new keyboard collected dust. He was trapped in a "chicken or egg" dilemma of discomfort and correction, constantly wondering, "Why does nothing feel right?"
The imagined pains became real. His back ached, wrists throbbed. The fear of worsening his "injuries" consumed him. He quit his job, moving back with his parents, unable to touch any gadget. He saw orthopedists, neurologists, and physical therapists. MRIs, massages, ultrasoundsโall yielded no definitive cause.
Alex found himself caught: afraid of working due to pain, yet unsure if he was just afraid of not affording the "perfect" setup. Would even the ideal tools bring peace? Months passed in unemployment, the line between genuine pain and anxious overthinking blurred.
Now, Alex fears simple chores, convinced his limbs might "tear apart." His fingers tremble holding a spoon. The relentless pursuit of comfort had rendered him utterly uncomfortable, a prisoner of his own unexamined fears.

what do you do?
>>105885481femboys would be so hot if a big percentage of them did not have HIV
I'm a rising senior looking for FTOs. I have like 1 internship, but it's pretty much a joke since the founders weren't techy, barely knew what they were doing, and only paid me by commission.
My parents are relatively high at their companies, and were going to pull a few strings to get me a data analysis or entry-level IT role if nothing else worked out. I always kept that on my mind as a bail-out option. But they recently informed me they now weren't sure if they'd even be hiring much next season due to Trump and budget cuts.
So it looks like I might actually be fucked. When I tried talking to my parents about it, they tried to reassure me, like "dw anon, you WILL get a job, we'll reach out to our contacts at other companies", and all that copium. But remember, they tried to do the same with internships.
Should also mention that they're both huge Trumptards, which could pose serious issues if I can't find anything and am forced to spend my early 20s in some boring ass suburb. I asked them if they regretted voting for Trump this past election. Nope. Not one regret.
Between this, and being an adult living in his mom's house in an unwalkable suburb turning me into a YIMBY, I can't believe I'm actually turning into a libtard

>>105887838Billion dollar startup idea: Clean water is a ""human right"" but isn't available everywhere. There's free water ready for the taking in something I found out about called "Aquifers" all over the world. I propose we design a special drill to bore down into the earth to find these water sources, and on the surface we build a special building that uses muscle power to carry the water up so poorfags and niggers can drink it. The money comes from advertising, municipal and state grants, and AI. We can even bottle the water and sell it as a marketing stunt to create Exposure. Who's building this with me?
>>105887978What if instead of giving clean drinking water we suspended a neodymium weight on a cable and used it to store energy so we can synthesize water from electricity outside of peak hours
>>105887978I've got a better idea.
Everyone likes to be a good person so what about water that donates to charity for every bottle bought? Perfect right? As for the source... California only faces droughts for half the year, how about there?
Trillion dollar startup idea: We can reduce demand for water while increasing supply at the same time with one simple idea. Humans are approximately 60% water. If we take the useless humans and juice them to drain their liquid, we would increase water supply while decreasing the amount of humans needing water. I call it the human juicer.
Thoughts?
this idea's going to the moon : we make a bottled water

>>105892578>>105895635Yes, according to most sites the U.S unemployment rate is around 4.1 percent due to how it counts unemployment due to it's metrics, but it's probably around 17 - 24 percent. For example you can be counted as employed if you worked for about an hour over the course of two weeks or people who are have been recently unemployed and still searching for jobs. Most governments have different metrics to disguise how shit things have gotten, because appearances do matter.
>>105892578literally the only metric to call "the economy" to be "in a recession" is that the gdp falls, in pure hard numbers, year over year. the number they want to see go up is NOT adjusted for inflation
so because inflation exists, it's basically impossible to be "in a recession" unless there is some bread lines tier economic disaster, and even THEN the fed would probably just print money and bail out banks and issue their own bonds to say "nope money supply is up gdp is up we're making money :') ", to say nothing of techbro startups that create VC money from nothing and degenerate investing that is basically a pipeline to hoover up money from reddit posters directly into wall street bankers' pockets
>>105896208>or people who are have been recently unemployed and still searching for jobs.that too, I believe to be officially unemployed for the bullshit statistics, you have to have been out of work for six months AND be still actively looking for a job after that. if you give up and just go on SNAP after 5 months and 29 days you don't count in that ~4% employment rate.

>>105899355Leetcode requires a particular approach to problem solving and coding. What nobody tells you is that most of the problems are not doable unless you are familiar with/have mastered the language you are using. If you don't understand arrays, loops, hash tables, linked lists, etc... you would not get very far with easys. Leetcode is not a shortcut to learning to code, you should learn to code first, build useful applications. Use all the resources you can for this. Try to use good books to get on a decent mindset for programming, E.G HtDP.
Leetcode is not about coding. It's about pattern recognition, and learning to solve problems in that manner.
Useful resources for it include
https://www.educative.io/courses/grokking-coding-interview
https://www.hellointerview.com/learn/code
https://github.com/dipjul/Grokking-the-Coding-Interview-Patterns-for-Coding-Questions
I do not agree with the neetcode approach. Learn DSA by visualizing first, try to visualize as many as possible and get used to the most efficient vs. less efficient, then focus on definitions and time complexities later. Again, a software dev doesn't really think like this at all. It's a complete different skillset.
Take a look at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKu_SEDAykw
This is what FAANG expects of you. Without a different approach to solving it, you can't just do this even if you are the best coder in the planet.
>>105900099What FAANG expects of you is a vagina, brown skin, or to be the top 0.1% of developers in your age range.
>>105899355Are you having trouble with the abstract problem solving or with how to do X thing in the language you're using? The latter is perfectly fine to struggle with at first if you don't program much.

>>105923326> Americans are extremely selfish and exclusively motivated by status and greed.it's more this than being outgunned. americans are incapable of grassroots orgnanization because of the "fuck you got mine" attitude. the second any of them make even a slight profit off of anything they drop all their ideals and become staunch conservatives (because obviously the best way for things to be is exactly how it was when they made their first dollar)
this also extends to any sort of planning or forward thinking. i.e. there is none, there is only MONEY NAO NAO NAO no matter how much they fuck up the system that got them their first few bucks. they don't care as long as they can cash out before it collapses.
why do you think every techbro paradise is a thinly veiled doomsday bunker, and every service is automated slop? it's so they never have to have contact with another human (other than a concubine or two) because they know that in their technocrat cyberfuture "utopia" they would be fucking robbed at lasergunpoint on the daily (same reason the #1 current american fear is "riots". it's not the political action, they fear looters more than death because it means getting stolen from and insurance usually doesn't cover that)
why don't you ask your mom or dad or uncle to set you up with a job? surely they must know someone
Do interviewers really?

>>105925698It's worse than it sounds.
>don't point it outYou don't have en eye for detail.
>point it outYou aren't a team player, who cares about a small mistake?
He sounds like a faggot.
>>105925805Dumb?
You should notice the mistake but not get mad.
Literally just don't act like a seething sperg.
Why is that so hard for so many people?
>>105903497This. It's more luck than skill at this point. Some employers might not even see your application since it's drowned out by tons of others in the span of a couple days, including from non-americans too.
>>105903497Apply for clearance jobs. No jeets so it's like .01% as many applicants
>>105926463>not get madLooks like you don't have the COURAGE and GUMPTION necessary to correct your order. If you can't even do that how will you survive in the high intensity global industry of B2B SAP integration for the Sales Force Strike Team
>recruiter wants to talk to me about senior-level position even though I'm still here trying to find something entry-level
Why do they like to waste people's time?
>>105926915they're just trying to fling as many applicants at the wall hoping one sticks, they're literally being retarded on purpose
>>105926816I've been doing that and was asked to travel hundreds of miles to another state for a face to face interview recently. They can have some pretty strict requirements for how they do stuff. Of course I just threw that in the trash and decided to keep looking since I'm not stooping down to that level.
>>105921663no, government contracting is also in an unstable state right now
>>105927011>>105926915number of applicants is a kpi. that's why there's so many fake jobs. there's kikeish (really more protestant) conspiracies too but for the most part it's HR roasties pointing at the number of applicants they get in the door to say why they get to have a job, even if it still takes them 20 years and 500 billion dollars to recruit five geek squad wannabes
hey guys, i keep getting text messages and calls from these indian sounding name for a recruiter company called "eteaminc"
i applied to one through indeed but they are not verified and there is an identical sounding company on there that is verified.
these guys have a legit looking website and send me properly formatted emails.
some google search says these are a scam but apparently some people got a job through them. so is this some half a scam where you get something out of it but they steal your data or something?
if it feels like a scam its probably is. just checking in here
>>105927508employment agencies, even when 100% above-board and not actively stealing from you, are still scams from top to bottom. they take a cut of your pay (unsaid; basically the company pays them 30$/h to find them someone, then the agency pays you 20, pocketing the difference) and they're usually not very good at finding you a half-decent job.
fucking hell, is it really not a meme? should i lie and add a couple years experience to my resume if i just have degree and a big gap? i feel confident in my skills or can learn whatever may be needed quickly, but how do you lie on your resume and through the interview process successfully?
>>105927834>gapYou're NGMI. They will discover it during the background check and your clearance will be taken away. You might even go to jail.
i want job as the 10th member of twice or at least as a dance extra
>>105887122I have some referrals, so hopefully it won't be as bad as naked applying.
>>105927834Don't listen to this retard
>>105927871 like they're doing background check for any pajeet they hire lmao. Be smart and pick a closed company
>>105928426It's literally 2$ to run your name through equifax and get your entire financial history, which shows whether you were employed or not. You're fucked.
Reminder that you are unemployed simply because you are undesirable and do not deserve to be in tech.
>>105928560What if I am undesirable and do not dserve to be in tech, but I am employed?
>twg full of jeets
hey bros can i sit with you haha...
