It felt particularly egregious when the episode revolves around a team sport - they managed some stuff in the outfield (Wood pillars, and ice to blizzards to catch balls, etc), but when up to bat a lot of the team just felt useless, and struck out. Gutsman shat the bed hard. Like, instead of Gutsman striking out, have him miss twice, and on the third one, he scores an incredible hit, but it's angled in such a way that has no vertical trajectory, and it's caught (feat: steaming mitt); this way, you reinforce Gutsman might be slow, and dumb, but he's strong, and ultimately it's his lack of technique that's his undoing, while keeping the antagonist a threat.
fucking play into your character strengths!!!!!!!!!! I don't even LIKE gutsman, but the anime does him, and the rest of the crew dirty.

Like, have Numberman be the opposite of Gutsman, where he's able to use his big brain to score a hit, but his swing is weak, and it doesn't matter.
Skullman using a bunt to steal first emphasized his tricky fighting style, and incredible speed - they put effort into writing that, and outside of Mega Man, he actually put forth an onscreen effort
