I know Germany is mixed and looks different in each region. The eastern ones are heavily slavic-russian mixed, going so far that they're names aren't even german. And I'm not speaking of the russian-germans, but the ones mixed sicne generations with a germanized slavic name.
Isn't Mats from Bavaria? They are darker, have at times curly hair. They sure looks different from the people from Schleswig-Holstein or even Hamburg.
The point still stands:
If modern germans or any other germanic nation was the real descandants of romans, they'd have ancient roman DNA in them. If though modern italians have a large part of ancient roman DNA in them, well then the opposite seems to be the case.
And the same thing for ancient greeks, which, if you look at the globe, is even a lot further south(east). Italy isn't even that south. Rome is more northern than most of Greece and a large part of Spain.
