Theres literally nothing outside Kamen rider for examples of Japanese sci fi armor because they only give a shit about euro fantasy settings, Shonen settings that make the concept of armor a moot thing, typical moeshit and slice of life animu settings.
Being Gung ho is a foreign concept to them so they're averse to any space marine grunt fighting with BFGs and power armor. They have mecha but that usually ends up in 2 camps
Being more Shonen with super robot gurren lagan shit

Being some anti war space drama that is more concerned with the pilot and his waifu. (Even then this one is rare these days as its more or less devolved into just being waifu bait that's slice of life but has occasional robot battles in a non war setting that are more like the token baseball episode you'd find in a typical anime)
