The USA (and the Americas in general) is a "Fuck you I got mine" nation. There is no sense of social cohesion or culture or empathy with your people because the New World was always about rich exploiters bussing in the losers of the world who only cared about trying to get rich themselves and were willing to abandon everything that made them what they were in order to chase the scam of "the land of dreams". Of course some inevitably will make it, and mostly they will believe they somehow are exceptional instead of lucking into opportunities and being more ruthless than competitors, so when they do make it they buy their own propaganda and think that everyone else isn't as well off because they're not as smart or hard working.
