I don't know, I'm still ruminating on it myself. Maybe it'll only make a more cohesive picture beyond just nationalism in retrospect once the sequel is out, but you can't say there isn't a nationalism aspect whether it's intentional or not. Off the top of my head at least the memento mori/amoris bs, because human condition and human connection were poignant themes even in the first two films.
Not ashamed to say I just took a moment and googled around and Fiennes leaked picrel about the sequel, so yes, more is coming about what little humanity remains within the feral.
I'll be surprised if there isn't some sort of reunion between Spike and his dad in the sequel too, where maybe he comes to forgive his father's shortcoming better.
