No they aren't. Tyranid Warriors are basically mini hive tyrants. They aren't mindless, they are capable of combat tactics, planning and strategy, and they direct gaunts around them. There is a reason why they are synapse creatures. They are conduits of the Hive Mind's will and effectively a type of front line sergeants & elite heavy infantry for the Nids. And invidual tyranids do not need centuries of combat experience when the hivemind just retains the experience of each dead nid and newer generations of nids just take on those lessons.
