The citizens might not remember, but the players definitely do and it's getting boring. The new government hasn't done SHIT for Solution Nine (just that funeral for Sphene that actually made everything worse); Wuk isn't respected or seen as the competent ruler of their neighboring kingdom; the WoL and the Scions have no influence there, and even if they did, this expansion hammers on the concept of not interfering in another culture's decisions time and time again (despite previous expansions doing exactly the opposite to keep the peace); Gulool Ja is the de facto ruler, but has no experience, no power, and now it seems not even full authorizations, since Calyx can easily hack his admin privileges.

Basically nothing has changed, nothing has evolved since the final battle in 7.0, and they will have to conclude the Dawntrail story in just a few quests, one dungeon, and one Trial after wasting time and resources for the useless past patches.

This. The idea behind it was right, actually interesting, but they completely botched the execution. Like another anon said, Lamat being a curious and strong princess clashes terribly with the fact she doesn't know shit about her own people and never even left the capital. She clearly was Hiroi's favorite OC in the expansion, and so he constantly put her in the spotlight like he did with Zero, another (albeit better) Mary Sue of his.

Her rivalry with Bakool Ja Ja was another good idea, but again, implemented like shit. They could have made Zoraal Ja a GREAT villain, but never gave him time to shine. Koana's story was resolved after one patch and a terribly cringe cutscene. Erenville is flat, boring, and not charismatic enough, even for the fujoshi. Sphene's motives felt utterly nonsensical, because the people she was "keeping alive" weren't even souls, but chatbots who acted like long-dead people. She basically wanted to keep playing house with a bunch of dolls - kind of a weak motive for a villain.

The latest patch was more interesting, thanks to real Sphene and Calyx. Wuk Lamat has been totally pushed away and I seriously doubt she will become a Scion, they know they fucked up big time with her character, but can't and won't admit it for obvious reasons. The new Scion spot will either go to Sphene (if she decides her people can live without a queen) or Erenville.
