Nyaan and Machu being handed guns by representatives of a Zeon regime that's already collapsing in on itself, in encounters that are sordid mixtures of rare honesty and blatant manipulation. each of them being told that this is what's right for the future, this is what newtypes need, so you Have To then being dispatched to go and fight for the sake of people and ideologies they barely understand. take the weapon, children. pilot the weapon. become the weapon. defile the weightless of gravity with killing. reach freedom through violence. the bloodstained bequest of one generation to another a different world bleeds through the cracks in reality. too bright to look at. too caustic to touch. the simple sense that something more is possible is hypnotic. addictive. a better world? who can say? these girls just know they are sick, society is sick, so there has to be a cure, right? right?

I'm feeling things about GQ/u/X. I think it might really have the juice actually enchanted with the idea of Char as the original sinner of GQ/u/X. an empty man searching for something to fill the magnetic void in his soul. he took the mandate of heaven and won the war and now everybody is living in the prison of his nihlism. everyone in this world is as empty as Char Aznable Challia Bull's freedom as perfect, suicidal detachment... the red spot of Jupiter... weaponizing the Rose of Sharon... the Lovecraft reference... Dr Lionni's misogyny... Nyaan's positionality as a refugee, wondering if her Zeon patron will like her "ethnic" food... GQ/u/X is so DENSE above all I am intoxicated by the fact that at this point, with this set up and these themes, with all the ways they contrast and compliment each other, a NyaanxMachu yuri ending would mean everything
