Mangadex suffered its biggest shakedown yet, losing about 8000 uploads, but the biggest issue is that the mods and administration did a few changes in response to that as if they wanted to stop being the sole target of DMCAs and potential lawsuits.
Every upload window now has checkbox where you need to check claiming you "have permission from the owner of said content to upload", and MD allowed a third party to assume full control of the website to upload some legal webcomics, that raised a red flag with several scanlators who don't see Mangadex as a safe place to be anymore, so some groups only release their stuff on their discord, or here on /a/, some went full OG by going back to IRC, other aggregator websites like comick and weeb central are trying to swoop Mangadex's traffic but they have their share of issues to handle.
