From what I'm getting they want this new arc to be like a new starting point for the series from which you can start to watch even if you haven't seen the other 7 seasons and they want it to be more adult oriented.

Find it also stupid that they still have to finish the plot of Aaravos and the star council yet they add even more side plots to the story, haven't they learned nothing from the fumble of the side plot of the Sunfire elf's?
Also they have said in one of the Q&A that they are thinking about showing why Ezran can talk to animals since they know fans want to see it, which makes me think that, like I suspected, they never had any idea or plan on how to explain this and are just now trying too see if they can find an explanation to include in the show
