The most retarded part of this rule is that a unit that wants to be in melee will not get anything out of it if the enemy just moves away with the movement reaction, while a HSS on the backfield that takes some casualties and gets pinned or suppressed can just ignore those statuses and suffer no consequences for it, since there's probably nothing in charge range...
Hell, even if you are forced to charge, step-up moves are not mandatory so you are left with a 4.4" average charge, max6". Anything outside of that range makes you fail it. And since you are Coll10, you are probably not going to get any downsides out of it while getting an extra shooting phase in the charge phase...
It feels like you get more out of this trait as a shooting army than a melee one
