It's just a list of the gods, and then three names scratched out. Yes, a reference to the villains of the story, but they're also mentioned in the loading screen. Personally, I didn't give that much thought until I made it to Moonrise.
I think what better describes the plot to the whole game is the symbol of the Absolute.
