I think the main problem here is that they have a shitload of road to use, yet there's only one column of vehicles and people.
Then you have the audience which is far away from this, which makes it look even more empty and low energy. As if the military is afraid to let the people in closer for whatever reason.
They should absolutely fill the road with hardware and allow people within arm's reach to be in awe and worship the death machines properly.
It's weird how the US is so good at making large scale spectacles when it comes to entertainment sector or even the megachurches, but they somehow manage to fail terribly at a military march.
