I think we're saying the same thing. My frustration stems from the fact Toriyama didn't use the original recipe design, and instead made up a new design 30 years later. I think he had an opportunity to unify the fandom by bringing old Super Saiyan 4 into the new continuity with DBS and it's a shame he didn't take it. Reworking SS4 changed what would've been a universally positive "holy shit" moment, into one where half the fandom was always going to go "what the fuck is that" instead, cause it isn't just the regular Super Saiyan 4 design we've all known for 30 years.
