I made it to level 3-3 and then gave up because I could only progress through save scumming constantly. It's a shame because the game wasn't even that bad, but as you say the devs seemed to want to make it absolutely joyless. The setting is cool and the game is mostly serviceable outside of it being plagued with insta-death bullshit.
Anyway my list of 1/10 games that I've hidden from my Steam account so I never have to see them again;
>ARMA: Tactics
Honestly the worst fucking turn based strategy game I have ever played. Visually bland, mechanically tedious with poor level design and the dullest story/characters ever conceived. Technically it works fine but it was such a bad experience it made me genuinely nauseous. I have suffered through a lot of bland strategy games because I love RTS, TBS and city builders but this game fucking SUCKS
>Anime: World War 2
A gag gift game I got from a buddy of mine, this is a barely functional shooter with one whole map, I think only 1 type of enemy (it's been a while) and barely any weapons. I know "slop" is a buzzword but this is literally some rushed barely functional slop that has been thrown out solely as a joke.
>Dead Bits
Top down shooter thrown out as a sole developers first game project. It is a very bland and boring game, basically on the same level as bad flash games.
>Forged Battalion
I've finished around 80 RTS campaigns and this game was un-finishable imo. Your units are brain-dead, there is no strategy to be found except for spamming units (and you are generally playing 1v3 matches in the campaign), the sole gimmick of customizing your army is implemented horribly (you can grind skirmishes but the AI gets access to a random pool so they are probably getting tier 3 units you can't counter yet), the story is horseshit and the music is undermined by the bad sound design. Maps are also sprinkled with props that you can attack so maneuvering is awful because your dudes start killing mail boxes.
