You have to keep in mind that there are quite a few paranoid PoE players who think everything is a scam. While it’s definitely true that there are plenty of scammers and price fixers, some people are just a bit too paranoid and clueless. A good example is the one in pic related, from our late friend Ashur. Here was Ashur’s thought process:
>Ryslatha’s Coil drops
>“Nice, that’s gonna fetch me quite a bit.”
>Checks the website
>It’s 2ex
>“Hmmm... that’s definitely price fixed and not a real price... I’ll list it for 3ex and lower the price gradually.”
>Lowers the price at a snail’s pace over the course of a month
>By the time he gets to 1.6ex, the belt is worth 10c
>Belt never sells during the league

It was like this with pretty much every item. He was constantly poor, league after league, because he was so paranoid. He couldn’t even sell un-ID’ed Watcher’s Eyes (obviously he sold them un-ID’ed — he never ID’ed them).

As for his pricing of rare items, the thought process behind it couldn’t really be explained. I think the only person who priced items worse than him in this general is Kraut — but that’s just a sad story, considering he’s been playing for 13 years now and is still clueless. Ashur had only been playing PoE for ~3 years at the time of his death.
