Oh and american jazz is utter garbage.
You have to be high, deaf or degenerate to actually enjoy this nonsensical cacophony disguised as "spiritually elevating" music. It's fucking structureless schizophrenic crap with no sense of melody. I tried to listen to "Bitches Brew" (just because it had McLaughlin in the lineup) and I couldn't last for more than 3 minutes, absolute nonsense for people who are probably high during this moment.
If you want good jazz with a sense of melody there's good old gypsy jazz that doesn't even need drums, and bossa nova, ethno-jazz, jazz rock ala Focus, Mahavishnu Orchestra.
American jazz, funk, pop and rap are nothing more but psyops disguised as music.
Also, american rock and metal is so underwhelming compared to european. What does USA offer? Van Halen, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Guns n Roses, Alice Cooper, Metallica or god forbid - Nirvana? It's all shit and subpar compared to what UK or Sweden can offer. David Coverdale singlehandedly blows away all american vocalists while McLaughlin along with Holdsworth and Malmsteen wipes the floor with nearly any american guitarist including mediore players like Vai, Petrucci, Beck or Jimi Hendrix.
