>I haven't handled one but I think the M1100 is more of a bench and target 22 than hunting so it depends what you're using it for. Walking around in the hills chasing rabbits probably feels like AIDS
I would be chasing (walking in, then sitting/calling) slightly larger game, like groundhog/raccoon/maybe fox? Depends what some field use would show. Bunnies and squirrels get 22LR out of my 10/22, no need for overkill. Site says the M1100 is 6.3 LBS. My 10/22 with folding stock, silencer, sling, and scope, apparently weighs (very) roughly 5.2 LBS according to a bathroom scale I don't much trust on a floor I don't trust to be a very good repeatable surface for a scale to sit and weigh on. Ruger's site has a very similar model (minus my additions and some gunsmithing done) and claims 5.4 LBS (bone stock 1103 model is 5 LBS) so that's probably actually spot on, maybe a hair under. But chuck a scope, sling, and silencer on that M1100 and it might be pretty hefty lol. I was also considering even longer barreled 22 WMRs like the Henry H001TMSPR (threaded model) but the one 22LR Henry I handled in person was fucking heavy for a 22. I guess it must be that octagon barrel but that was a dense gun any way you cut it. Site says H001T 22LR 20" octagon barrel is 6.5 LBS! The model I wanted (pic) is 7 LBS! Still an 8rd mag even with that little stubby tube, though, which is impressive, however maybe the 24" barrel explains some things lol.
