They have her self-reflecting on it basically immediately too. She doesn't really feel bad about splatting that dude, but she also knows that what she did was a bit out of pocket. Subsequently, one could argue Miorine's solution to the problem was a bit too extreme. As you say, Suletta's brainwashing hadn't gotten nearly that bad at that point.

Sadly typical for Gundam. Second half is always a let down in some way. I still very much enjoyed the show, there's just no point in not acknowledging its flaws.
