The fairy is first and foremost what allows SCH to be a commander, without it SCH wouldn't be able to double its role in the battlefield as a healer and a commander. Plus the "get in a dress with fairy wings" is the SCH equivalent to bahamut trance and you're lucky because SMN not only didn't get a dress, it also doesn't have trance anymore.
