VC seems like a series that is worse than the sum of its parts. Like on paper WWII, in an anime fantasy setting, with gameplay that is hybrid Turn Based/Real Time tactics, and with shooter mechanics to top it off, should make for a really cool and unique game with broad appeal. But all those things layered on top of each other are what probably contributed to an uncertain audience that was being aimed at, and those fans who did stick around have no shortage of complaints at the series’s tactical (or lack thereof) gameplay. If the series can’t escape niche appeal, then I think 4 games is a pretty good run, all things considered.
