Why are the writers incapable of writing deep, compelling villain factions anymore? Remember the Garlean Empire? Imagine if the Garlean Empire was just Varis and an army of robots. That'd be pretty boring, wouldn't it? Or if the Ascians was just Elidibus? Preservation could've been the next big villain faction, but instead they simplified them down to just one singular dude, a dude who's a total charisma-vacuum btw. He's not even an interesting villain, he's just some sad mopey nerd.
