Well, if such a massive spike is possible then there's no playing it safe. A massive purity bomb on the sector will surely cleanse it. The orbital slingshot is armed and pointed. However a hardlock prevents it from firing while a VIP is in the area. An extraction team will have to be deployed to move the VIP. Once that happens, nothing can stop the repurification of the moon. Probably.

I am firmly against a hard deadline for the ending of this story, especially one so close like the 29th. We are already winding down to a natural conclusion. We're making great pace by limiting new hooks, not introducing prolonged troubles and resolving quest chains.
Concluding on a poetic milestone like the 2nd Anniversary is neat but that's a lesser appeal than having a fully satisfying conclusion. Forcing it will be a mistake. Which comment would you rather inspire? "The ending actually turned out to be surprisingly solid." or "The ending had a lot of wasted potential but it happened to end on the day it started. Neat." We don't need to waste potential. It's a for-fun project; we have all the time in the world to craft it right.
