Early on, was all text in doujinshi handwritten out of necessity for lack of personal editing means? Nowadays everyone has a computer for clean typesetting. Not sure if there was a way to do that back then.
I was surprised to see so many meta jokes in the few 80s era doujinshi I read through. Pic not related but the broken 理性 got a chuckle out of me. Some stories were straight up ridiculous and some had more thought put into them. Not too different from now.
