Some lucky Bhaalspawn can lead normal lives, while others eventually experience a violent awakening that is out of their control. Much of BG2 is about the protagonist wrestling with their dark heritage in adulthood, even though they were raised in a loving environment by a caring guardian. Orin had absolutely no chance to be "well-adjusted," given the circumstances of her birth and upbringing. It would be implausible if that didn't mess with her head. Bhaalspawn are born of murder - they are not just some gullible idiots who get roped into an edgy cult.
