want to upgrade my pc and got some parts for free already.
I got
mobo + AMD Ryzen 7 3700X + cooler and 2*8 gigs of ram
I currently run I7 6700 and 2*8 gigs of ram
so an upgrade in the end since cpu apparently is superior
but Im worried about cooling
the cooler that i have gotten is not going to fit. its 40mm taller and my case houses PSU in front of the CPU.

Can i just use the lower profile cooler i currently use if its fan diameter is about 15mm smaller.

I have no idea about airflow capabilities of neither ones and one in my current pc has no markings since i have a prebuilt.

Yes i could buy new parts but id like to stick to what i have since
