The beginning was in 1989 with the Fall of Communism and American victory in the Cold War, which became official with the end of the USSR in 1991.
The definite end date was 9/11/2001, but things had already started getting shitty before that. There was a sense of doom in the air for a while before 9/11. Everyone just felt like something really bad was going to happen and the good times were coming to an end. It started with the Y2K hype, which turned out to be a nothingburger, but the feeling that the end was coming never really went away.
The Dotcom bubble burst in March 2020, and the 2020 Presidential election was when American politics really got insane and contentious.

Whenever they face even the smallest difficulty or adversity in life, instead of trying to figure out how to overcome it, they immediately start whining and complaining about how it's impossible and not even worth trying, claiming that no one ever told them how to do it or give them training and how someone needs to do it for them. It's bullshit, they are just weak and lazy, but that tactic worked on their weak willed roastie mommys and teachers who would just sigh and fix the problem for them. They don't seem to understand that isn't how things work in grown up world.
