You first need to define your self-worth outside of performance.
The most rational way to do this is accept that your level of performance was gifted to you by random circumstances, so it's not "yours".
Once you accept that everything about you doesn't actually belong to you and it's just temporary, you can start to deconstruct your sense of self and reach the roots and ends of everything.
When you reach the roots and ends of creation, you'll see that everything and everyone are equally valuable and worthless at the same time in the grand scheme of things.
Once you reach this logical conclusion you'll finally be able to not care as hard about your performance, while still retaining a level of care that allows you to improve and enjoy the activity.
